This finely woven early 1900s Thekeb is a Tibetan horse blanket, crafted from hand-spun wool, used in both ceremonial and practical contexts.
The vivid red upper band features stylized floral motifs and a central diamond medallion, underlined by a key-pattern meander symbolizing continuity. On each side, red triangles mark the transition to the main field—likely with protective or directional meaning.
The central field displays a rhythmic floral diamond pattern in soft multicoloured tones on a light, plateau-inspired ground. Rich in symbolism and subtle detail, this is a rare and well-preserved piece of Himalayan equestrian heritage.
