Tibetan Horse Saddle Rug | Saffron Vine Medallions

A classic design depicting flowers and twisting vines with leaves. The balanced composition is pleasing as is the ground color which serves as an attractive contrast for the colorful flowers.

The simple border, a version of the Tibetan 'wave' motif, is seen in various forms throughout the Turkic weaving world. Possibly intended for monastic use due to the gold ground color, it is either the top piece of a saddle rug or a mat on which to sit.
