Hand-Knotted Tibetan Khaden Rug | Blue Field Medallion with Auspicious Motifs
43-04-05
Woven upon the high plateau, this early 20th-century Tibetan khaden carries within it the quiet breath of the mountains and the patient rhythm of the loom. Its surface, softened by time, glows with the gentle sheen of hand-spun Himalayan wool, as though light itself had settled into its fibres.
From a deep, contemplative blue—like a twilight sky stretched across the earth—three medallions emerge, one after the other, suspended in perfect stillness. They seem to mark a passage: not of time alone, but of thought, of spirit, of an inner journey unfolding in silence.
Around them, tender blossoms and wandering stems take form, not fixed but alive—suggesting growth, renewal, and the quiet persistence of life in even the harshest landscapes. Nothing is rigid; everything flows, as if guided by an unseen hand attuned to nature’s deeper harmony.
Encircling this serene world, a vibrant border flickers with movement—zigzagging like flame, like lightning, like the pulse of the elements themselves. It protects, it contains, yet it also awakens—reminding us that stillness and energy are never separate, but part of the same eternal dance.
This is not merely a rug, but a field of meditation—where colour, form, and wool come together to hold a moment of balance between earth and sky, movement and rest, the visible and the unseen.
