Playful, sinuously drawn dragons with expressive faces are reminiscent of Qing period textiles. This rug was undoubtedly made for monastic use, as is suggested by the yellow field.

The stiffer version of the cloud/mountain border, as well as the drawing of the clouds situated in the four corners of the field, are highly suggestive of a rigid workshop atmosphere where the pattern was undoubtedly executed from a graph.

Published analogy, Kuloy, plate 65. Referenced from "Dream Weavers - Textile Art from the Tibetan Plateau, Pages 60 & 61, Plate 6."
