A compelling example of a Tibetan tsutruk, this piece embodies an archaic weaving tradition executed on narrow back-strap looms and composed of three individually woven strips skilfully joined together. The indigo field, richly and unevenly saturated, reveals subtle tonal variations that speak to the hand of the dyer and the organic nature of its materials.

In its restraint and linear clarity, the composition resonates with a distinctly modern sensibility—an abstract aesthetic that feels remarkably contemporary despite its tribal origins. The surrounding red pile border, vivid and intentional, echoes the protective cloth bindings traditionally applied to Tibetan rugs in use, imbuing the piece with both functional and symbolic significance.

What emerges is a textile of quiet strength and graphic purity—where simplicity, structure, and age converge into an object of enduring artistic presence.
