Woven upon the high plateau, where wind and sky meet without boundary, this khaden carries within its fibres the quiet rhythm of Tibetan life. Fashioned from hand-spun Himalayan wool, its surface holds a gentle luminosity—softened by time, yet still alive with presence.

At its heart, three medallions rise in measured harmony along the deep indigo field, like celestial forms suspended in an endless sky. Their repetition is neither rigid nor formal, but contemplative—an echo of continuity, of past flowing into present, and present into what is yet to come. They may be read as protective emblems, as coins of abundance, or as distant reflections of the Wheel of Dharma—yet their meaning remains deliberately open, inviting stillness rather than declaration.

Around them, delicate floral tendrils unfold with quiet grace. These are not merely decorative, but living forms—suggesting renewal, the persistence of life, and the subtle dialogue between nature and spirit. Their gentle asymmetry reveals the hand of the weaver, a human touch that softens the geometry and imbues the composition with warmth.

Encircling the field, the cinnabar-red border glows with restrained intensity. It recalls the protective cloths once stitched to such rugs—both a safeguard and a blessing—framing the composition as one would frame a sacred space. Within this boundary, the world is held in balance.

This khaden was not created for display, but for use—for sitting, for resting, for daily life. And yet, in its quiet way, it transcends function. It speaks of a culture in which beauty is inseparable from living, and where even the humblest object carries within it a sense of order, protection, and grace.

A piece of stillness, woven in wool.
