Hand-Knotted Tibetan Khaden Rug | Rosette Column Field
106-05-05
This antique Tibetan Khaden presents a composed and rhythmic design built upon a repeating arrangement of small floral rosettes and geometric motifs, carefully aligned along the vertical axis.
Set against a deep, saturated field, the motifs appear as scattered constellations, each distinct yet harmoniously integrated into the overall structure. The alternation between floral forms and small geometric groupings creates a measured cadence, suggesting balance, continuity, and quiet introspection.
The simplicity of the composition allows the individual elements to breathe, while the repetition introduces a meditative quality—almost like a visual mantra unfolding along the length of the textile. The narrow border, rendered in a contrasting red tone, gently frames the field without interrupting its calm, expansive presence.
Woven in silky, lanolin-rich Himalayan wool, the surface would have originally displayed a soft sheen, enhancing the clarity and delicacy of the motifs.
