This antique Tibetan khaden presents a powerful and dynamic composition centered around two prominent medallions aligned along the vertical axis. These forms, rendered with bold stepped contours, evoke lotus blossoms or abstracted cloud-lotus motifs, symbols of purity, spiritual awakening, and transformation.

Radiating from and connecting these central elements are a network of angular, lightning-like lines, creating a sense of energy and movement across the field. These lines, together with the scattered flame-like motifs, suggest vital force, protection, and the transmission of spiritual energy, themes often embedded in Tibetan visual language.

The field, in a luminous and gently variegated tone, provides a fluid backdrop against which the motifs seem to float and pulse. At both ends, bands of multi-colored vertical stripes introduce a lively decorative contrast, reminiscent of textile borders or ceremonial cloths, framing the composition with rhythmic accents.

The overall effect is one of contained dynamism—a balance between structure and motion—imbued with a subtle symbolic charge. Woven in silky, lanolin-rich Himalayan wool, the surface would have carried a soft sheen, enhancing both depth and vibrancy.
